About Green Strata

Our organisation

Every problem has a solution – or more likely a collection of partial solutions that add up to a more complete solution.

Green Strata is a response to the problem of how to live more sustainably and with the lowest possible ecological footprint as a collection of households within a building or complex formed and legislated under strata title.

We’re a non-profit incorporated association (Green Strata Inc) based in Sydney. We’re governed and managed by owners and residents in strata-titled properties.

We focus solely on helping owners and occupiers of residential multi-unit properties improve the sustainability of their common property and their community of residents.

We do that through this website and participation in workshops and education sessions facilitated by owners corporations, executive committees, local councils, environmental organisations and strata managers.

We formed after realising that strata-titled properties were the ‘forgotten sector’ when it came to government programs and incentives, and easily accessible information on what options were available to us (as owners) – particularly when compared to what was available for detached houses and commercial operations. That is starting to change and we hope that one day there will be no distinction.

This website

Our website was born from conversations with other owners; is managed by owners; and grows through other owners sharing their experiences in tackling different aspects of sustainability in their buildings. Increasingly strata mangers, building managers, utilities, relevant industry bodies and local councils are contributing to the knowledge pool. It is a work in progress and will hopefully always be.

We aim to provide a portal for:

Information on the options available to strata owners seeking to improve the sustainability of their complexes – from independent, unbiased sources wherever possible
Case Studies of what other owners have already achieved and how they did it
Products & Services that have been successfully implemented owners corporations and which are backed up by Case Studies

The real growth of knowledge will come from many people sharing their experiences and information to cooperatively build a knowledge base of increasing value. We invite everyone to contribute both their questions and the knowledge they have gained from their own experience.

Sustainability issues in the ACT, but some relevant to all

Hi,

I have written up some of our OC's experience in the ACT. Feel free to put the link somewhere on this site.

Cheers,

Peter.
